The Peterson family sought All Season Painting to transform the exterior of their beautiful two-story home, built in the late 1990s, into a modern, refreshed space with a timeless appeal. They wanted to update their home’s curb appeal with a complete exterior repaint using high-quality, weather-resistant materials. This project involved painting the main exterior walls, trim, window shutters, garage doors, and front entryway. It also included the backyard deck, which needed a new protective coating to guard against Portland’s rainy climate.

The Peterson family’s goal was to select a color palette that would blend with the natural surroundings while giving their home a more contemporary, sophisticated look. This involved choosing premium exterior paints with long-lasting durability to withstand seasonal weather changes.

1. Initial Consultation & Color Selection:
   • The Petersons desired a modern, natural look that would increase their home’s curb appeal and maintain consistency with the other homes in the neighborhood. We provided them with multiple color samples and recommended a palette that included:
     • Soft charcoal gray for the primary exterior walls to create a modern, sleek look.
     • Crisp white for the trim, window frames, and door accents to add contrast and enhance the architectural lines.
     • Slate blue for the front door and shutters to introduce a pop of color and give the entrance character without overpowering the home’s design.
   • After a detailed discussion and reviewing test patches on the home’s siding, the Peterson family decided to proceed with this sophisticated three-color palette.
2. Surface Preparation:
   • A vital step before painting was preparing the house’s exterior for a smooth, long-lasting finish. Our team conducted:
     • Pressure washing to remove dirt, mildew, and any loose paint from the siding and deck.
     • Sanding and scraping off old, chipped paint on the shutters, trim, and doors.
     • Caulking around windows and doors to ensure a sealed, weatherproof finish.
     • Minor repairs to cracks in the stucco and siding to provide an even painting surface.
   • The house was fully masked with drop cloths to protect windows, landscaping, and walkways.
3. Main Exterior Painting:
   • The first stage was applying a premium weather-resistant primer to the siding. This created a strong foundation and helped the new paint adhere better, preventing future peeling.
   • For the main body of the house, we applied two coats of soft charcoal gray paint, selected for its modern aesthetic and ability to blend well with Portland’s natural surroundings.
